Nashville Guide (Hotel + Activities)
Fresh off the plane from Nashville, and it did not disappoint! The city is literally booming of culture and history thought the city with so much to see, learn and hear. We did not go with an itinerary besides 3 reservations and tickets to the Grand Ol Opry. Looking back, I wish I would have done a little more research on what else to do besides walk Broadway because that scene was a little much for 4 days. But for now, I am dropping all the deets in this post about my trip. Let’s get into it…
WHERE WE STAYED
We stayed at the Bobby Hotel, and I 100% would stay there again when we go back. Your eyes are busy the second you walk in the front door as they are scanning the luxurious staircase, sensuous artwork and being greeted by Harry, their hotel doggo. The staff was extremely welcoming and tentative, always saying hi as you pass them in the lobby or opening to doors as you’re heading in or outdoor.
Before you hit Broadway, make sure you stop down at the lobby bar and try out their Espresso Martini. Hands down the best martini I had while I was there, and our bartender gave us great recs for must try food spots. While having a martini you’ll notice the cheeky artwork from Tyler Shields, makes for great conversation.
You cannot forget their rooftop; it alone makes you forget that you’re at a hotel. Their pool is quite impressive but it’s the airstream bus (yes, a literal bus) that makes it! They transformed the bus into a place to sit and enjoy your cocktails or play a game of Jenga!
I loved the location; it was so close to everything. You had less than a 5-minute walk to Broadway and an outdoor mall but far enough away to be out of the madness when we needing to recharge. Printer’s Alley is a quick 45 second walk from the front door with cool hole in the wall bars and restaurants! Kind of a speak easy feel with blues bars and dive bars. Definitely something to check out as well!
Overall, I impressed and highly recommend staying at The Bobby while in Nashville! It was clean, high-end, great location and dog friendly if needed!
WHERE WE ATE
Let me tell ya, the food in this city is BOMB. We truly did not have one bad meal while we were there. I had a lot of people recommend making reservations weeks before we went, so I literally made our reservations a month before we went (enneagram 8 here). 3 places I recommend grabbing a reservation at:
Jeff Ruby’s - get your check book ready for this one. It is spendy but in my opinion, SO worth it. We started with the jumbo shrimp, and they were freaking big, and fresh. Apparently, they are known for their ranch dressing so grab that with a salad! I had the steak and lobster - that was the best lobster I ever had. We were so full after the meals we had but I didn’t want to miss out on a tiramisu. To.die.for. We finished with an Irish coffee and happily rolled ourselves out of the restaurant.
Twelve Thirty Club - This is my boyfriend, Justin Timberlake’s, restaurant. It has 3 different levels - Honky Tonk on the first floor, Supper Club on the second floor (where we ate) and member only on the 3rd. Let me tell you, it 100% embodied JT. Total 1950’s high end, swanky vibe. There was a live jazz band playing while I ate the best sea bass I have ever had. I know I keep saying my food is the best I ever had, but y’all, the food is freaking amazing in this town. The fish quite literally melted in my mouth.
Hampton Social - This is known more for their “IG” picture-esc vibe. It was about a 15-minute walk from our hotel (you are constantly eating and drinking so we were always down to walk). I am going to keep it 100 with you - the food wasn’t anything to die for. In my opinion, it’s the atmosphere that makes it so appealing. I had the chicken and French toast, def recommend. Trav and I tried an “Oyster Shooter” 11/10 do not recommend trying that shot. Vodka, clamato, hot cause and an oyster in the bottom… chug. Hungover it sounded good, instantly regretted LOL
Hattie B’s Chicken - DO NOT SLEEP ON HATTIE B’S. Apparently, no one else does in Nashville because the line was GIANT 24/7.
*Hot tip: have your significant other stand in the 45 minutes while you walk around and shop. Studs is right across the street, and I stocked up on some goodies!
We got the tenders and the sandwich and knew why it is a must the second that chicken hit our mouth. There has to be secret drugs in it because it is literally that good. Drugs. Secret seasoning. Juiciest chicken cooked to perfection. If you don’t have a significant other to stand in line, try getting there right when they open or when your hammered halfway through the night. The chicken tasted even better then.
TRANSPORTATION
We were able to walk 90% of the time! The only time we Uber’d was to the Grand Ol’ Opry, mall and airport (20-minute drive). Ubers were extremely accessible and easy to get. Those 20-minute rides were anywhere from $40-$50.
THINGS TO DO
Hot tip: GOOGLE WHAT EVENTS ARE GOING ON.
We honestly did not do a whole lot other than walk Broadway! Now that I have done Broadway and the Grand Ol’ Opry, on my next trip I want to checkout museums, guided tours, maybe a Pub Crawl and check out the auditoriums. I would honestly say that 2 days walking Broadway is just enough to experience that. If you are there for a few days, my recommendation is to check out/book other activities off Broadway to see more. I regret not Googling what events were going on the weekend we were there. We found out there was a home football game and a Kevin Hart show. It rained all day Sunday so I was glad we didn’t get tickets, but the Kevin Hart show would have been so much fun to go to!
Grand Ol’ Opry - this was a notorious spot to check out. It was fun getting to hear more up and coming artists, and it’s always fun to be a part of a live show. There were 6 different artists that sang 2-3 songs. Some of the artists were up and coming and there were others, like Blake Shelton, that performed 3 of his songs and Gwen Stefani joining him too! As much as I enjoyed my time, I probably wouldn’t return unless a big artist I wanted to see up close and personal was a part of it.
Heads up, the line was giant to get in and got to our seats a few minutes after it started. Defiantly recommend getting there 30 minutes early!
Shopping - if you’re reading this blog, this is the part you’ve been waiting for LOL There are fun shops everywhere, but my favorite was going to the Green Hills mall. Now, there are two malls in Nashville. The Opry Mills Mall and The Green River Mall. DO NOT make the mistake I did of taking a $40 Uber to the Opry Mills Mall. It’s the outlet mall but was a complete bust. When I got it the Green Hills Mall, it was exactly as a pictured a city mall to be. Big, multiple levels and hundreds of stores!
Bar Hopping - there are so.many.bars. you can go to and every single one of them will have live music. We had a blast poking in and out of them all, but we definitely had a couple favorites! Kid Rock’s bar had a bomb band that had us singing and dancing, but there was one that took the cake! The one I absolutely recommend going to is a total hole in the wall but was by far my FAVORITE bar! Tootsie’s. It’s the ultimate dive bar and the band was sooo good! From rapping “Colt 45” on the bar top to belting out George Straight, we stayed on the roof top for hours! I knew it was a fan fav when I had people replying to my IG story of the purple stairs saying it was their favorite too!
TO WRAP IT UP…
Nashville is a fucking blast. Full of culture and live music!! It is most definitely a “must-visit” to add to the list if you have not been yet. We went for 4 days, and it was the perfect amount of time to sneak away. Nashville, I will be back!
xx,
Ky
